Hi!

I am an undergraduate student at The University of Cincinnati studying Neuroscience, Neuropsychology, with a minor in Asian Studies. In the future, I want to become a clinical child psychologist, as I want to be advocate for and understand children who struggle with mental health and neurodevelopmental disorders. The study of the brain and behavior of humans has piqued my interest since I was as young as 10 years old. To me, the developing adolescent mind is incredibly complex; I seek to research the behaviors of children and subsequent links to the brain.

About Me.

With confidence, I can say that I am capable of achieving greatness so long as I stay focused and humble. This reminder helps me to stay on track with my passion of gaining knowledge and creating an impact through my ideas and actions. As a highly family-oriented person, I have also always found great strength in wanting to make my loved ones proud. A part of this is due to how my maternal side of the family never received the opportunity to pursue higher education in Vietnam. These aspects joined are what keep me grounded and driven.

My passion for leading and empowering, especially young, women of color like myself, is something I want to nurture more through UHP. I value harmony and respect, both of which I believe I facilitate and exude well as a leader. I want to explore my studies abroad as well, as I can not only gain great academic insight through a different lens, but I can also learn more about a different culture -- being more culturally aware ultimately creates better leaders.

Growing up in my suburban Ohio area, there were few teachers and students alike who I could relate to as a mixed Asian-American woman. To me, I find myself greatly impacted by women in stem and Asian-American scientists -- I can see their values, hard work, and familial connections aligning with my own. It is important to me that I am that somebody to young learners; someone who looks like them, has gone through what they have, and knows the difficulties of growing up in a predominantly white academic setting.
